My journey into storytelling began with an unforgettable surprise: one day, my mom walked through the door carrying a new TV, a video player, and, as if she’d revealed the secret to a whole new world, two VHS tapes - The Sound of Music and My Fair Lady. Before that, our family’s entertainment was limited to an old TV that flickers only for the 4, 6, and 9 o’clock news. Growing up in the quiet beauty of Delta State, Nigeria, this was like discovering magic. The first time I watched The Sound of Music, I was utterly captivated. Those tapes practically begged for a break with how often I replayed them.
With a mother who taught music education and a father who had a deep love for Broadway, thanks to his NYU days, my fascination only grew. They fed it with cherished LPs of Oklahoma! and The King and I, transforming our home into a gateway to the stories I craved. Between school plays, church choirs, and family performances, I took every opportunity to create, imagining a stage beyond what I could see.
Years later, I moved to Texas after high school, trying my hand at modeling and singing because they felt like natural paths. (Google wasn’t around to suggest other options yet!) I eventually earned a degree in Management Information Systems, which led to a role as a Web Producer for a retail company’s e-commerce team. It was my first taste of production, a world I thrived in with its exhilarating blend of organization and creativity.
Soon after, I immersed myself in acting, drawing on my corporate skills in unexpected ways. This path led me to a Production Assistant role on Vindication, where I quickly moved up to Set Coordinator, Director’s Assistant, and, by Season 2, Associate Producer, a role I’ve proudly held through Seasons 3 and 4. The blend of acting and production was a dream I didn’t realize I was chasing—a fusion of my passions, both behind and in front of the camera.
Now, as I build my own production company, I’m crafting stories that ignite imagination and stir the heart, aiming to create worlds as captivating as the one Maria and Captain von Trapp unveiled for me all those years ago.
